Consists of 68 diaries written from 1858 when Davis L. James was ten years old until his death in 1933. The entries discuss his business and the James and Ramsey families. James comments on the weather, and on the archaeological, literary, cultural and religious affairs of Cincinnati. He also describes the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia, which he attended. The diaries contain letters, newspaper clippings, photographs, etc.
